Encounter with Khalid Khannouchi

Here I am at the Bolder Boulder Sports Expo today discussing running with Khalid Khannouchi at the New Balance Booth. How cool is that? He autographed for me a 5x8 postcard of himself that lists some of his major accomplishments, including setting a world and American record 2:05:28 at the 2002 London Marathon. He has run the third, fourth and seventh fastest marathons in history according to marathonguide.com. I asked him what he is training for and he said the Chicago Marathon, which is a race he recommends highly. I am officially jealous of Erin and Cassie who both are shooting for Chicago. He was very gracious.

All morning my legs were feeling very heavy, but after talking to Khalid, I was pumped up and ready to race. Just prior to meeting Khalid, we picked up our packets. You can see by the picture, my carb loading is going well.

There is a lot happening in Boulder this weekend. In addition to the race on Monday, there is a large outdoor festival in town on Boulder Creek. They also have a nice Farmers Market every Saturday morning, here is a picture of my wife loading up with produce at the market.

That's awesome to meet Khannouchi. I hope he gets past his injuries and wins Chicago again. Did you tell him he should update his site more often?

Keith.
