Revenge

Kemah Bridge. Hills, my nemisis. That last set of hills in San Diego got the better of me. Tonight was revenge. Nothing like running a little nasty. 4 miles on the Kemah Bridge tonight in 33:30 at a 153 HR. I've never run this route so quickly before. Hills, I am your master.

This run definitely wiped out all the post race cobwebs. Funny how there is often both a physical and mental let down after an important distance race. I certainly experienced this until this evening. The post half marathon blues are gone, gone.

Jamoosh will be disappointed that I only had one beer, a Guiness, in San Diego. Seems that my wife was more interested in seeing the harbour seals of La Jolla that the Stone Brewery of Escondido. I lost that one big time. But I made up for it tonight with a nice Stone Brewery 'Arrogant Bastard Ale'.

Alas, my running game is more like "Meek Male Ale" than "Arrogant Bastard Ale". Although I have decided to set some longer term goals that fit better with Arrogant Bastard. When I am age 55, I will (a) become retirement eligible and (b) will run a Boston qualifying time. Now if that is not an arrogantly bastard goal for a meek male runner, I don't know what is.

So I have some serious running to do over the next four years. Which brings me to my shorter term goals. Looks like two half marathons and a whole is the lead option through January 2007.

If anyone wants to run Saturday morning before the HARRA party, let me know.

In the mean time, run nasty my friends.

I'd run with you Saturday but you're too fast. :-)

You will be a bastard soon enough.
Glad you enjoyed the Arrogant Bastard. I see a Lagunitas Maximus in my near future. It has been lying in wait in my fridge for too long now.
