Tempo Run & BARC Meeting

Feeling good this morning after 5.4 miles in 45:40. Must have been the positive vibes from the BARC meeting last night and the chance to sit next to the vivacious Veronica, Club Secretary.

A representative from Superfeet talked at the meeting. He lost me at metatarsal. Not really. But I don't know what to make of orthotics. I've been tempted to try orthotics or inserts, but I don't know. My knee is hanging in there fine and I am hoping my training methods and my Asics GT-2110's are the reason. Seems like it is only a matter of time until I experience the old planters fascists (alright plantar fasciitis, but really who can handle a word with two i's in a row in it, then again while there is no i in team, there is three i's in individual).

8:27/mile pace is not a taper pace for me but a tempo one. Time to slow down a little for the rest of the week and set a half marathon PR on Sunday.

One thing I am thinking about this morning is how lucky and blessed I am to be able to run. I know many who do to injury, illness or disability do not have this good fortune and I will remember that when things get tough on Sunday.

Good Luck Joe! Don't take any bribes from Keith or Monkey Buddha. No extra pressure, but we have money and a steak dinner riding on your finish time.

Seriously, have fun in Colorado. Bill

Joe- good luck with the PR. I'm going to be running my slowest half to date!

I've got orthotics in my Asics 2110's

Good luck this weekend Joe! I'm sure you'll do great - hope you get that PR.

I've been lucky to not have one iota of feet issues in my life. But for my friends who do use orthotics, I've heard nothing but good things about them, provided they were fitted well in the first place.

I'm in the early stages of Plantar F. myself. I had been using Asics GT-2110. I blame it completely. I have switched back to Kayano's but alas, not early enough.

Good luck Joe.
I feel bad for betting against you, but I do think you're gonna PR and break 2:00.

Rock on.
Keith.
