What great running weather this week, but it comes with a catch. In the heat and humidity, one is able to run only so far and so fast. Take away the heat and humidity, presto, one's pace and distance capability increases. One's desire and enthusiasm increases as well. But the cooler weather has not done anything to help ones muscles and limbs. So I think it is especially important to follow the 10% rule and not overdo it in order to avoid any strains. By all means run faster and farther, but in a controlled fashion.
This is what went through my mind this evening as I ran in the nice weather. I was surprised at how low my heart rate was and how comfortable the run was. But I resisted the urge to go farther and faster. This is especially important since I raced last Sunday and will do so again this weekend.
So I had a nice low heart rate run with an average 132HR for 5.4 miles at an average 9:17/mi pace. In July, my heart rate was about 10% higher for the same run. I think I'll just squeak in 100 miles of running this month.

My feed burner lost you along the way somewhere (maybe went you switched to the beta version? I'm not sure).
I'm sure this will never happen again in my lifetime that I ran more miles in a month than you - I topped out at 116. Actually, that was my highest this year and should end up being my 2nd highest month for the entire 12 months.
