I Hate Not Running

I've not run since Sunday night since I am nursuing my sore left hamstring. It's killing me (not running is, the hamstring is not so bad). As usual, I overdid it by racing a half marathon, an extra long hill workout and a two mile XC country race all in 8 days with some less demanding mileage in between. I guess it has something to be sore about.

I will get back to running tomorrow night. I'm cautious since I'd like to run well at the upcoming 10 miler. I also want to get my mileage back up to 30-35 miles per week and maybe higher. We'll see, I find it hard to get a lot of miles in when I am also racing every or every other weekend.

I'm pleased by my running progress, but I've been training by feel, rather than a strict plan. Maybe I should dust off my marathon training schedule from last year and follow-up a bit more closely.

Hmm, what would Keith do. Keith would take a poll! Should I follow a prescriptive plan, like I did last year, or a fartlek plan, where I mix it up by feel. I'll get the miles in either way.

Mix it up.

And don't forget to reward yourself with a satisfying brew everynow and then.
