BARC Christmas Party

No running this evening, my quads will have none of it after yesterdays exertion. Besides tonight was the Bay Area Running Club Christmas Party. I must confess to breaking training and having a margarita or two.

The highlight of the evening was the outstanding slide show put together by Veronica Hoge and Mark Schultze. We even have a picture of Jon at the BARC Pub Crawl, not to mention some of Sarah (though not from the Pub Crawl). It had me so fired up that if I had my running shoes, I would have run right out the door and done a 5k PR on the spot. They also gave me an award for the most improved newcomer. I guess we haven't had very many new members this year. I better do well at the marathon to help justify the award.

Had I been prepared for an award, I would have thanked my fellow bloggers, since without reading about their determination and receiving their support, I would have probably switched to golf, croquet, or online poker. Though they have yet to (and will likely never) inspire me to an ultra, in spite of Jon, Keith, and Holden's recent heroics.

Finally, watch out Houston, BARC will be out running in new singlets next year. They are as awesome as our snazzy, elegant blue ones. I can't wait to buy mine and perhaps run the marathon in it. I may not be fast, but I'll look good.

Joe, for where you've come from to where you are today, you're capable - from a running standpoint - to do anything you set your mind to do (whether it be 26.2 or 31 miles).

Just think how much more fun hanging out at this year's Marathon Expo will be than last year's!
