Customer Service

This blog has received a complaint from one of its readers, specifically my daughter, that I have not been blogging enough. So our customer service department is responding to this complaint by posting this blog, which was not planned for.

As some people know, blogging has been down this week because fretting has been up. For the second year in a row I am at the brink of dropping out of the race before it starts due to injury or illness. Last night, my leg was bugging me so much I thought no way. This morning I felt a lot better and this afternoon went to the chiro for some PT. My chiro pinpointed the inflammation and advised me that I could run as long as I went for an 85% effort and listened to my body.

I've been carbo loading quite nicely, I may be able to shed those pounds yet on Sunday. I've never run in the heat, humidity, rain and cold all in one race before.

Joe, I sure hope you are there to toe the line on Sunday morning. I just got home from a 2-hour feast of carbs. I'm all about the sleep factor now!

Good luck on Sunday. At least you know this will be a memorable experience - wind, rain, hot, cold - bring it on!

Not that my opinion matters but here's a thought...I have alot more respect for someone if they get a DNF rather than a DNS... at least they got out there and tried! As long as you won't do real, lasting injury to yourself... I hope that you will feel well enough to go out and have a fun run at least! I'll be looking for ya = ))

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with the previous comment. Sometimes you have to pick your battles. There's no shame at all in a DNS--you can do a lot of damage to yourself in trying to fight your way through a marathon. Far better, smarter runners than I am do it all the time. But, in communicating with you, I think you know what you're up against, and you're probably ok to go. Good luck on Sunday--see you on the course!
