I went to a funeral today. A work colleagues husband died after a four year fight with cancer. They also had his disabled mom living with them the whole time. The colleague has had it very rough, yet has never ever shown any bitterness, negativity or complaint.
I don't think I'm nearly as tough and unselfish as her. Shoot, I lose patience when I can't workout when I want to. Or perhaps I'm just not as fatalistic or willing to leave it to God's will. A classic engineer, everything in life is expected to be tickety-boo and work as designed. When it's not, I expect it to be fixed without delay. A good engineer knows there is a root cause for deviations and there is a solution to be found for any situation.
Somehow the engineer's approach doesn't quite fit for all life circumstances.
Although it works just fine for Suduko.

you should take the political theorist approach to life: you analyze the hell out of it, only to realize that you can never come to a solid conclusion as to what "it" is.
