This evening I went for a run on the new trail along Red Bluff Road. It is a nice trail but there are several dumb things about it. These are:
- The new public Kipper Meese Sports Park with a large parking lot along the trail. This is good if one could use it. It is closed and can only be used if you book the park. I called the City of Pasadena about it and it costs $100 per baseball field to book, with a two field minimum.
- There are two 10 car parking lots down further down about a quarter mile. They are along the bayou and there are two docks where one can put in a canoe or a kayak. Both parking lots were shut and locked when I got there at 5:30 pm.
- I ended up parking at the Valero gas station on Red Bluff and Bay Area. That's OK, but Valero is not going to be happy if anyone who uses the trail has to park there.
- There are some real fancy exercise stations along the trail between Kipper Meese Park and the canoe/kayak lay-ins. I wonder who is going to use them since no one can get to them unless they are long distance runners.
- The drainage is pretty lousy, so the trail stays wet for a while.
They spent a fortune on that trail, including bridges over bayous. The could at least have provided access somewhere.
3.8 mile run in 33 minutes with an average HR of 141.
Tommy, I won't be going to the Ingrid concert this weekend. I'd love to, but in a jam packed schedule of work, cycling, running, volunteering at the Seabrook Lucky Trails, taxes, bills, housework, and my wife, something has to give....

Too bad Joe. I'll just have to tell you how good it was.
