Back Home and Lagging

Arrived home yesterday on perhaps the longest non stop air flight of my life. I left Dubai on Emirates Air at about midnight Houston time and arrived at IAH at 4 pm for a 16 hour flight. Yesterday evening was not too bad but tonight I am fading fast.

While on my trip I did a four day workout which was a mistake in retrospect. The workout was

4/18 5k 30:10 125 avg HR
4/19 336 meter swim followed by a 5k 29:12 122 avg HR
4/20 480 meter swim followed by a 5k 28:10 133 avg HR
4/21 912 meter swim

On 4/22 my right lower leg was acting up, so I am in healing mode once again. Repeat after me, I will not run on consecutive days, I will not run on consecutive days, I will not run on consecutive days.

Oh well, I am learning my current limits. It looks like I will be focusing on bike training to get ready for my July 19 Rocky Mountain ride (gulp).

But we do have the Bayou Bash Relay on Saturday and my club will have 8 or 9 teams out there. I have also registered for the Bolder Boulder 10k on Memorial Day.

PS. I have now completed 7 weeks on a vegetarian diet, mostly vegan but had some fish while travelling. My weight this morning was a record low 192. Hard to gain weight eating plants all the time.
