Got my finishers certificate as I completed 75 miles on day 2 with a 133 avg HR at 16.5 mph.
Day two of this years MS150 started by shivering at the start line. It takes a while to start 12000 riders in La Grange, so I got in line at 5:20 for a 7:00 start. Even then I did not get off until about 7:20 since there were many folks in front of me. Next time I will dress a little warmer or just leave my bike by its lonesome for an hour.
The starting line announcer exclaimed that the headwind for the day would only be 0-5 mph. Well he lied, since it was only that way in the first hour or two. It certainly was a major factor in the second half of the ride and must have been more like 10-15mph.
Naturally, I took the longer, more challenging (eg hilly) route through the Buescher State Park. It is certainly a special treat. While my quads hurt pretty bad on Saturday, today I had no problems with them. I felt pretty strong the whole ride and my cardio was super. Our bodies are amazing in their recovery. However, I did start having an inflammed tendon issue below my knee on the inside left leg after 50 miles. Fortunately I can rest it for a couple of weeks.
I don't know what to say about my MS150, it is an eerily familiar feeling how I felt about the Texas Independence Weekend. A long, tiring, sleep deprived weekend that requires significant endurance. But I have to say it is humbling to endure such a simple event in comparison with those that have to endure MS.
It was nice to be home by 5:30, at Boondoggles by 6:30 and in bed by 8:30.

WoW! Got er done!!
congratulations.
Congratulations. I'm continually amazed at your accomplishments, and glad to count you as a friend.
What guts to undertake that. I can visualize running 100 miles, but I can't visualize having my butt to a bike seat for over 150. Wow! Way to go, Joe!
Congrats Joe! I've got to do this ride again sometime...
Good show Joe!
