This morning was the second annual BARC Predict Your Time and Pay Your Dues 5k. 34 runners plus several volunteers gathered at Sylvan Rodriguez Park for chance to accurately predict their 5k time and stand on the podium. The course (map link), which was designed and measured on my Trek by yours truly, was a true out and back, half pavement and half flat cross country. This layout, plus the heat and humidity at 7:30 am certainly did not make it an easy prediction. The park pavillion was the water and rest room stop and was conveniently located at mile point 0.7 outbound and 2.4 mile inbound.
The winners were:
1) Chris Robbins 19:00 predicted, 19:04 actual
2) Bill Griebel 27:00 predicted, 27:06 actual
3T) Karen Lancer 33:00 predicted, 33:08 actual
3T) Dennis Malloy 26:10 predicted, 26:02 actual
While they got the big awards, we did have enough prizes for every runner to walk away with something. Also, we had enough volunteers that I ran it. I predicted 25:30 and ran 24:17, so I was well out of the money.

Afterwards I took my new bike out for a 34 mile ride at 18.2 mph. It is one smooth ride. So I got to pay my dues and do a du. Just a smiley, happy, endorphin Saturday.
