Powerless

It has been one of those weekends. Hit hard by a nasty head cold that had me quesy all week, I did not come into this weekend firing on all cylinders. But I could not resist the opportunity to run a leg of the HARRA Cross Country Relay. My first run of the month.

Gee I ran the first mile in 7 minutes. I was in no shape to do a 7 minute mile in this relay so I died like I never have in such a short event. The second mile was 10 minutes. I was powerless to deal with it. Hmm, don't run and don't cycle, get a bad head cold, and bingo.

But I am very very happy to have run my third consecutive HARRA Cross Country relay with a BARC team. Even if it was my slowest outing.

More powerlessness this morning. The transformer behind our house went boom. I'll be amazed if we get power back at home this week, given the backlog. So I am at a coffee house blogging.

Not done yet being weak. Rode my bike through Seabrook and Kemah. Slow 25 miles at 15.5mph as I had no legs our lungs. Heart wrenching stuff. People's belongings still strewn in front yards. Maribelle's totally gone. People's homes destroyed. Felt powerless indeed.

Much better folks than me live there and they are resilient and strong. People are getting after it and progress is made one day at a time.

Thanks for helping me with the tent. I know Veronica won't mind sharing her minions!
