High winds today so by bike ride was tough. The club headed out Bay Area Blvd at 7:30 am straight into 10 to 15 mph headwinds gusting to 20mph. The winds sheared the peloton, with riders not able to stay together well and indeed I ended up riding most of the ride either on my own or with one or two others. I stayed with the strong 21mph group riders however, so I did pretty well considering.
But no 21mph in this weather. The route takes us to the Lynchburg ferry, through Baytown to the Fred Hartman Bridge, through Morgan's Point, Shoreacres and eventually back down Bay Area Blvd. All in all I did 50 miles on the club ride at 17.5mph plus a 6 mile warmup before the ride for a 56mph day at a 141 avg HR. Serendipitously, on the way home I saw Terry and Veronica at their cars at the Valero at Bay Area Blvd and Red Bluff. Stopped and said hello, it sounds like their 21 mile training run went great. They are both running stronger than I have ever seen them run, although Veronica has run this well prior to having her babies. I do fess up to being insanely jealous of their running prowess. They are in a league I can only dream of.
But then again, they are simply one dimensional, not a multi talent like me.
Watched the ND game after. We won but almost gave the game away. It is a frustrating season as they make way too many mistakes.
Good news on the home front, our insurance company finally agreed to give us the money to cover our whole roof, which was damaged by Ike.

It was actually between babies that I ran well.
Hey! I may not own an expensive bike or be a master swimmer, but I am not one dimensional. As you very well know I am a beer drinking champion. That takes a lot of serious training.
Thanks for the coffee, could have used some of your special Irish creamer though.
