Happy Christmas

Today is my third anniversary as a blogger. I wondered whether it was time to hang up my keyboard as I am not sure I blog anything new. Repeating oneself gets boring. But since Christmas has been good to me this year, I guess I'll hang in there for a little while more.

Christmas Eve was a treat, a 50 mile club ride in the morning and a thrashing of our opponent in the evening. ND's performance in the bowl game against an overmatched Hawaii team is the way things are supposed to be.

I have been a bit of a malcontent lately for a variety of silly reasons but, like the Irish, may have turned the corner. Expectations run high and laddies get a bit uptight. Play loose and good things happen.

Tomorrow morning I will do my last ride of 2008. In the afternoon my wife, daughter, son and I will head west in the direction of Big Bend. When we get there we will camp and we will hike. Daughter and son will do some back country backpacking while mom and dad will stick with base camp and day hikes. We'll come back next year some time, assuming the wild animals don't take us for breakfast.

I had money on a gift card - from last year - at Foot Locker. To make sure that it didn't go unused (or have lost its value), I picked up two T-shirts (like I don't have enough already): a burnt orange Texas shirt and yes, a Notre Dame football shirt.

I thought of you - and Erin - when I was buying it.

Merry Christmas!

Hmmm, I guess ND should start scheduling Louisiana Polytechnnical School for the Blind to ensure enough "overmatched" schools are on their schedule?
