Stick With Running Folks

You did not set any PR's at trivia.

The men's marathon has been broken most often at the now departed Polytechnic Marathon, where it was broken 9 times between 1909 and 1965. The Polytechnic Marathon was held in London, with the start line at the Windsor Castle. It was the first marathon to regularly run 26 miles and 385 yards.

I can understand picking Berlin, which has seen the record broken four times. The last three times the record was broken happened in Berlin in 2003, 2007, and 2008.

Only one time has Boston been the scene of the men's world record, in 1947 when the Korean Sun Yuh-Bok ran a 2:25:39. The course must be as tough as its reputation.

Fukuoka was the setting for two record breaking runs by Australians in 1967 and 1981. The 1967 record was the first run below 2:10.

My disclaimer is that the source for the above is Wikidpedia's entry on marathon worlds best progression, which I presume is an unofficial although likely reliable source in this instance.

As for Crosstrain, maybe he should stick with cycling. All of a sudden I have gotten stronger. Set a PR pace for a long ride this morning, completing 66 miles with the club at 20.6 mph and a 140HR. I hit 35.7mph on a flat part (wind assisted), which is also a PR not on a bridge. Glanced at my HR at the time and it hit 182, so I maxed out.

Waded in the freezing outdoor pool afterwards and think I'll just do a little recovery ride tomorrow.
