Well I was contemplating some time off. I fell on my bike in the turn onto Todville Rd from Kemah Bridge. Rode home, went to ER, and learned I have a broken collarbone and shoulder separation.
Totally my fault. Bad judgement and bad cycling by me as I was trying to catch up to the fast people who dropped me on the Kemah Bridge. I did catch them at the turn but the price was high.

Oh Joe!!!
I am so sorry to hear that. I know that is a very painful break in particular.
Make friends with a La-Z-Boy at bedtime is my best advice.
And we don't even have Jamoosh in town to stop by with a cold beer for you! Seriously, sorry to hear that.
Yikes. This is not the kind of information I need to hear as I enter the realm of cycling.
I wish you a speedy recovery. If you need ANYTHING, contact me.

Heal quickly, Joe! I'll be keeping you in my prayers and hoping Jamoosh can send you a nice beer even if he has to use Fed Ex!
What? Oh no. See, cycling is no good for you. ; )
My prediction is that now you'll really have to give your achilles tendon a true break and come back stronger than ever... to running of course.
Dude, major bummer, so sorry to hear about this. Strength! Courage!
Oh no! I was going to post the same thing as Bill, but he beat me to it. I'm so sorry that happened...I'll be sending you some quick recovery vibes!
Ouch! I had a broken collar bone once - it sucks. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Oh no! What a bummer Joe. Wishing you a quick recovery.
OMG!!! Joe!!!!!
I am so sorry to hear this. I hope you are feeling better soon-- speedy recovery. If you need anything at all please ask.
PS: RODE home?!?!?!?! I am such a weenie, I would have laid in the road til someone came to scoop me up. Hardcore my friend.
Well, shit. Bad break, no pun intended. Well, okay, maybe, bu tit was lame. So sorry to hear about your boo-boo, but glad that it wasn't more serious, really.
Rode home? Really? I am agog. Mostly peopl I know with a broken clavicle can't hold a blowdryer, much less a handlebar.
Joe,
I broke my right scapula in a bicycle crash the fall of 2004.
All I can say about the healing process is that you must be patient, very patient.
Jeff
