Decisions, Decisions

OK, should I race the 28 mile chip timed Tour de Donut race on Sunday or just ride the 55 mile long (non-race) route. The advantage of the 28 mile race is, looking at the previous years times, I could finish in the top ten overall out of five hundred cyclists. So the fast people must not ride this. But my placement would be before they give everyone their 5 min time deductions for each donut eaten. The winner last year consumed 21 donuts saving him 105 minutes! I don't plan to eat any donuts, just ride it as fast as I can.

I've not raced against the clock on my bike, so that would be different and more like a run. However, I will ride about 60 miles on Saturday, so I may be a little sluggish. What say blog land? 55 or 28?

I need to decide on November 2 and register.

Speaking of racing, your average speedy male cyclist is rather competitive. On my two rides at GWBush park this week, I passed a rider each day who then proceeded to respond in the very same way. First they each drafted behind me for about a mile. Then they came along side me to show me how comfortable they were riding my tempo pace. They talked to me for about two miles. Then they both took off I guess to show me they could. The second day, the guy waited after a while, rode with me another mile, and then took off again.

Well at least I've gotten fast enough now that they pay attention to me. I think one is totally ignored by the semi serious cyclists until one reaches a certain level of competence.

In the mean time, I am seriously tired and am taking today and tomorrow off. Too much travelling, driving, riding, running, working, cleaning, blogging...well you get the picture.
