Those of you who read this blog realize I get up to Boulder Colorado for R&R four or five times a year. One thing we enjoy is the oft repeated 'Boulder Moment'. A Boulder Moment is someone or thing we run into haphazardly in Boulder, that we can't imagine finding in our Clear Lake life. On this visit so far we have had two certified Boulder Moments so far. They are:
- Visiting the Sinclair gas station on the corner of Canyon and Folsom. The gas station convenience store has been converted into an all natural, organic shop. It is declared a cancer free zone with no tobacco products on sale. You can pop in after filling up your tank for your soy milk and gluten free cookies. Just don't expect a Big Gulp or Doritos. It will be a long while before this comes to Texas, let alone Clear Lake!
- Sitting at the bar at the brewpub in funky Nederland Colorado mountain town talking to the mountain man in the next seat. He has lived in a shack in the mountains for 34 years and is allergic to bills, hence lives off the grid. Solar panels for electricity, no refrigeration and certainly no cable tv. Big night out on the town for a basked of sweet potato fries and two locally brewed IPAs.
