Running 8, 11, and 11 miles each week for three weeks doesn't sound like much. But when the number has been 0 for a long time, it is a lot. I should not have run back to back this week as I feel it a little. Got some therapy on my leg at Koala yesterday and told Dr V about the Texas Independence Relay. She's having me come in once a week for the next four weeks.
Since I have committed to my team to run TIR, I need to be cautious and not aggravate it over the next two weeks. I'll keep the mileage steady or less, with no back to back days and the only possible intensity will be Park to Park next Saturday. I just want my legs enough used to running that TIR won't be that surprising. I won't be setting any PR's, just giving my team a steady 8:30 tempo pace. I don't plan on running Bayou City and will be happy to have some good recovery after TIR.
Thursday I did 12 cycling miles near my workplace in Terry Hershey Park. We have a nice shower, so after riding at 4 to 4:45pm I went back to the office for another 1.5 hours and let the traffic die down.
Today it was 61.1 miles in wet road conditions. Sort of a fartlek ride as I rode with the fast people for a while, the slower people for a while and broke away with some medium speed people at the end. Felt good.
