Summertime Blues

Ah yes, the heat and humidity is sapping our energy, raising our heart rate, draining our fluids and slowing down the will to blog it seems. However, I can not say it has cut back on my cycling as I've gone 643 miles on the road this month, a record by far. My cycling fitness is at a best ever level as well, today's ride was 64 miles at an average speed of 20 mph, including several warmup and cooldown miles as well as all the starting and stopping for lights. I am ready as I ever will be for the Triple Bypass on July 12.

The real bummer of the month was that I ran 4 out of 8 days while travelling, but just a total of 30k, and had a lower leg pain relapse. Looks like it might not go away, so hence the summertime blues. I wonder if it is some sort of compartment syndrome, which does not respond to rest or physical therapy. I may need to go back to the ortho.

Also did the St Arnolds pub crawl in Galveston last night and the BARC Family Fun Party at the Go Cart track in Dickinson yesterday. Could have gone to a pool party today but decided to watch Germany lose to Spain in the European Cup Final. Bummer, but Spain had not won a big tournament in 44 years so we don't feel as badly as if Germany would have been knocked out by someone else.

I was all pumped about my 20 mph average over 12 miles, then I came here and you did that for 60+! :) Yeah, I think you're ready for CO.
