Summer Kick-Off

A real nice morning at the Summer Kick-Off 5k at Clear Creek High School. Sarah graciously paced me and we finished in 33:02. My hammies are sore but they are improving slowly so I decided to run rather than scratch. By running with Sarah, I learned that she knows every fifth person as we spent the whole run either listening to Go Sarah or offering such encouragement to others. We finally met Erin at the end of the race, who won her age group and was not far off being overall female champion.

I did not lose anything by not being able to bust out and race hard. A 22 minute PR would have been good for no better than 8th place in my age group!

"...Every fifth person!" I love it! (I sat here and laughed out loud.) At first, I didn't think you ran it; however, I scrolled down and saw the result.

I thought to myself, "I didn't think he was going to run." Then I thought, "Go check Sarah's time."

I'm glad that you all had a good time and had a chance to meet Erin!

Check the message board as it was a VERY good day for HRB today!

Yep, I was worried because I know Joe isn't a 33:00 runner, but he assured me that he wanted to take it slow and it was nice to have a friend to run with!

Thanks Joe! :)

Joe,

Great to meet you this morning! Hopefully next time I'll be able to stay and chat a bit longer.
