Mini Recovery, Mini Taper

Took yesterday off and did a relaxed, nostalgic 3 miler this morning. I have not done my 3 miler route since late June. But more importantly, my first run in March 2005 was this route. I had done nothing to prepare myself nor had I investigated anything about how to run and train "properly". I did not have running shoes, dry fit clothes, proper socks, chaffing protection, or a heart rate monitor. I did not know what GU was. I had not visited On the Run or any running store.

I did have legs, cross trainers, and a watch. So as a first run, being a wise man, I decided to run as hard as I could for 3 miles. It took me a little over 30 minutes and I looked like a tomato afterwards. Fortunately it was a cool morning.

Run to exhaustion, isn't that the recommended first ever introduction to running? The cool part is I did not get injured and I continued to run.

Gerlinde and I will toe the line at RTW tomorrow morning. We are ready. The Seven Speedbumps Running Club better show up.
