Rocky Mountain Taper

Lake Dorothy, Indian Peaks Wilderness, 9/20/06

Hiked our favorite trail today, from the Fourth of July trailhead to Lake Dorothy, 7 miles round trip, 1940 vertical feet to an altitude of over 12000 feet. The goal of this "taper" was not to stub a toe, twist an ankle, gain a blister, or twist a knee. There were a few near misses, but the hike was completed without incident. There has been a little snow up there already and we even saw a snowflake or two.

Only bad thing is I won't count those seven miles as monthly running mileage, although my legs feel like it was a half marathon. I did get an easy 32 minute run in yesterday.
