Seeing Bill work so hard and make so much progress is motivating me. Otherwise I'll be left in his wake as he drops me in the next race. Surely he gets my vote for HRB runner of the month.
So I joined five On the Run folks at the track to do some speedwork. thanks to Chris Bittinger for doing the timing and organizing the workout. They were doing 5 x 800s as they build up to the well known Yasso 800 workout. I had not done any speedwork for a while, so I only did four.
They were all pretty quick so I ran each 800 a lot faster than I'd planned on, a blistering pace for me but still the slowest of the bunch!
3:18, 3:21, 3:18, 3:14
Wow, don't think I've gone under 3:30 in the 800 before. I guess I am getting faster.
We took three minutes recovery in between. I took one lap warmup and five lap warmdown so ran a little over 4 miles in total. My heart rate hit 182 on the final 800, the highest I've ever seen. I think if I would have run another lap I would have injured myself as I certainly feel some twinges in some right leg muscles.

Great running, young fella! Remember - age grading is in effect at the Trolley Run 5k.

Dude - you rock! I can't wait to get back to doing speed work. It may be another month or two. I would really like to PR at Houston in january although that may be pushing it.
