My great nephew, Xmas Eve 2006
Based on my lack of running wisdom, my age equivalence is about the same as my 2 year old great nephew. Today I wore my old running shoes with 500 miles on them (not a good idea). Why did I wear them? Because it was pouring rain and I was going to do 5 easy miles on the squishy Seabrook trails. But I didn't. There were some brave BARC souls out doing their 20 miler. I jumped in with them at their mile 13.
Their 20 mile pace was 8:15, I had not intended to run faster than 9:00.
They had 7 miles to go, I had not intended to run more than 5.
They ran on the roads to avoid the mud, I had not intended to run on pavement again with my old shoes.
So for the first time ever, my achilles is telling me it is there. Those shoes are going in the trash. Fortunately that seems to be my only complaint. I have pushed my running to its current brink. Taper. Be patient. Get to the start line.
