New Shoes

My new GT-2120 right shoe

Since they had racked up 508 miles, I took my old pair of Asics to On The Run for a trade in. Asics has replaced the GT-2110 model with GT-2120, which is lighter. Since I have two other pairs of GT-2110's I weighed each right shoe. As advertised the GT-2120 weighed in at 15.25 oz, which was 1 oz less than the GT-2110.

With 2 less ounces to lug on my feet, I'm bound to run like the wind....or not.

I gave the new shoes a test run of 7.3 miles this evening. The run clocked in at a very comfortable avg HR of 134 with a nice marathon pace of 8:52/mi. I'm not sure if I'll wear the new model at the Marathon. It will probably be a game day decision.

I also got in 4.6 miles last night at 8:50/mi pace. My right Achilles is still telling me it is there. Actually, it is not the Achilles tendon. I'm pretty sure it is the posterior tibial tendon. It is not swollen, painful or slowing me down, but it is worrisome. It will have a lot of work to do on January 14. Maybe I'll take a couple of days off to rest it.

Might I recommend a good sipping beer to alleviate your pain?

Rest up my friend. Coach Steeeve tells me we're not gonna gain any more fitness before Jan 14 so my goal is just to get healthy. I don't wanna start the work day (Jan 14) with any aches and pains cause I know I'm gonna end the day with a bunch.
