The Better Part of Valour is Discretion

In which the better part I have saved my life. Said by Falstaff in Part One of William Shakespeare' s Henry IV.

So I called my training buddy and cancelled our run this evening. My hamstrings, quads, calves and foot are just too sore. Speedwork kills. Or at least speedwork after a layoff kills. I think it was those 2oo meter sprints. Followed by a not a recovery run five miler the day after.

At least I might be recovered for the Relay on Saturday. Not to mention I got to go to Boondoggles for a beer and Mediterranean pizza. Next best thing to running and procreation.

I may be in Europe mid-May for 12 days and am checking out some runs. Having a go at my 10k PR is very tempting. There is a lot of marathons and half marathons, but I'm not ready for that yet (sigh).

And verily, sometimes downtime is wise. Especially if you are availed the virtues of Boondoggles.
