In a world that often seems full of negativity, a morning like today washes all that crap away. A nice park, a fun course, fine weather, limited hoopla and good people made Yuri's Night 5k feel like a family picnic. Congratulations to Sarah once again just a few weeks after her half Ironman. She just keeps on hitting home runs.
I liked the course a lot as one got to run on a variety of surfaces, trails, grass, asphalt and pavement. I ran pretty well, finishing the 5k in 22:38. My only complaint is that too many fast male runners in their 50's registered. Our age group was the most competitive by far. There needs to be a cap on the number of runners faster than me allowed in the race. I'm just going to have to get my 5k times under 21.
It is back to drawing board again on a target half marathon. The Napa to Sonoma run is the same weekend as BARC's Lunar Rendezvous 5k at Space Center Houston. Hardware goes five deep in five year age groups, so it is not to be missed!
I also completed a 11.8mile bike ride last night at 17mph with a 134HR.

Thanks for coming and thanks for your help before and after running Joe!
Cool! Yeah....I need to get under 21 too. Sometime in my lifetime - LOL! (that'll never happen).
We had a buncha kids (no really; under the age of 13) at our fun run today. Seeing a 15-year old win first place is a great lesson in humility for all the adults there.
I haven't heard a peep outta Holden in a long time; great to see a picture of him!
Geez, I look terrible in that pic. That's a face only a mother could love. And what's that leg doing coming out the side of my hip?
Nice seeing you yesterday. Too bad your age group was full of old, fast guys.
Good to see you again. If I run the net Houston Marathon, I think I'll look you up at the start.
