RunBayou's blog states that the Trolley course was 238 feet short this year. It felt like between mile 2 and 3 to me. A few people were speculating at the end that it was a little short. Runners are so tuned in that they usually can tell if a route is a little short or long. Especially a flat 5k.
BARC volunteer duties at the Resurrection Run 5k was a lot of fun. I'm getting comfortable with volunteering instead of racing all the time. I got to hang out with or see many friends and acquaintances including Jon, Sarah, all my best BARC buddies and even the Strider's Lee Greb who made the trek to Clear Lake for this one. I used to think I was a solitary runner and not into the social stuff, but now I feel different. I am hooked on running and my running buddies.
Unfortunately for Lee, our age group competition was brutal as the top three 50-54 males all went sub 20. Wow. Don't see that too often in our smaller area races.
I did a nice 15 mile cycle ride last evening at 18mph and 145HR averages. I'll get in a Seabrook Trail 6 miler on Easter Sunday.
I'm sorry I missed the Martian Marathon, Half-Marathon and Meteor 10k in Michigan last week. I enjoyed the 10k last year, its still my PR. My daughter volunteered this year and learned the joys of removing chips from marathoner shoes for a few hours as well as marshalling a kids run. Our family will do anything for a spiffy green martian volunteer jacket that states "Obey me" on the back. I hope to get up there next year. So many runs, so little of me to go around.
Congrats to JD for learning the joys of the Kemah Bridge. He had to do it an extra time or two until he got it right.

In case you don't know it...a piece of trivia is he has certified courses. So if there's anyone I believe when they say a course is short....it's him.
I have a bunch of friends volunteering for a race coming up; those folks really deserve spiffy jackets or other amenities given what all they get to endure!
