Slacker Joe

I have been a bit out of sorts lately. I have not been able to either run or bike much due to nagging injuries. The bike one (upper hamstring/glute pain) appears to be due to my new saddle, which is narrower than my old saddle. Since my old saddle is in Colorado, I am going to get a new saddle to try out from Bike Barn today.

At least I hope it is the new saddle. The bike fit is set up correctly as I had it done at the LBS and similarly to my old bike, to the best of my ability to tell. I hope it is not that my body is just not compatible with my new bike. That would be disappointing.

So I have been swimming a bunch (5 out of the last 10 days). Why not get better at that? It is front and center at the Olympics after all. But won't get much swimming in the next two weeks due to travel.

The good news is that the last two days saw a record low weight of 193. Don't know why I dropped a few pounds all of a sudden. Guess I am not eating enough.

Slacking on eating, running, biking and most definitely blogging. Most of my writing energies are now put into the weekly eBARCer which is our club's newsletter. I try to make it interesting. I find less time to blog and read blogs.

I did write a newsletter article about my epic Colorado ride for the Space City Cycling Club. The owner of Bike Barn sent me a nice email after he read it and asked me if I was interested in riding the Tour de Etape next July with him and some friends. It is a climbing stage route for the Tour de France. We mortals would do it in one day as well. I told him I was interested, but I do note that there is a CUTOFF TIME. Yikes.

Good luck with the saddle -- those things make or break a ride, as you well know.

Will your recap for the SCCC newsletter be available online?
