Done With Cold Beans

First of all, I do hope all my blogging buddies are well and in good spirits in spite of the disruption and destruction of the past week. I have not been around the blogs yet but I will.

CLEAR LAKE CITY.......Rapid Fire News....

- Power came back Thursday night while we were out getting hammered at Mely's Mexican and Chelsea's Wine Bar. Best thing to do without power is have a frozen margarita if you can find it.

- The ROC run in Kemah on September 27 has been cancelled.

- Vera Balic's house was flooded with 4.5 feet of Galveston Bay water, they've already totally gutted it. Another BARC Board member lost her stuff in Bayou Vista, not to mention having to move her September 27 wedding from Galveston to Kansas.

- I am hatching a "Take a Hike Ike" 6 miler for our club to run Seabrook and Kemah on Sunday October 5 and/or maybe do some Seabrook trails clean up. Maybe everyone can bring a leftover hurricane kit item and we can have a big swap as awards.

- I am also working on the BARC water station for the 10 miler and plan to make it a FEMA pod theme.

- I evacauted with my desktop and now my desktop's motherboard is fried. How funny. Should have left it at home. Being the engineer I am, I did back up all my important data as part of the hurricane prep. Went to Best Buy and bought a $500 Dell laptop. Will try to extract the hard drive from the old computer anyways as I miss my favorites, all my pictures, my installed special programs and my blog roll.

- Drywall is supposed to be dry, not wet, that is why it is called drywall. I hate leaky roofs.

- Insurance guy doesn't plan to visit us until October 4.

- I wonder how many people got in the FEMA lines not because they really needed water, ice or MRE's but because it was a giveaway. Not me, we had enough water and food stored and we can live without ice.

- I do like cold beans with ketchup. But not every day.

- I have done absolutely no training and am letting my various wounds heal. Maybe I'll go for a little very slow ride with a newbie rider tomorrow. Maybe not.

- The Irish lost. Now that really hurts the most of all.

I can't wait-will you and Vera be dressed as Ozarka singles or MREs?

After seeing the line of families at the POD up the street, I decided I could buy my own ice too. Those less fortunate were seriously underprepared.
