Happy Halloween From The Midwest
Upper 30's and sunny, perfect running weather from my perspective. I was able to do two miles from my daughters condo along a real nice trail on Ford Lake in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This was needed to clear my head of the Crooked Tree IPA (great beer JD), Jagermeister and blackberry wine of last night. My daughter rode her bike and took some real good pictures. That's me running in the picture below in a 2006 HMSA 25k windshirt, tights, gloves and beanie. Everyone is looking forward to the 2008 25k windshirts. The HMSA 25k happens to be my all time favorite long distance race above 10k. Give me three 5 and change mile loops all run at faster pace any day.
Well back to today's 2 miler. Now I won't gross out my daughter again by comparing this run to an alternative human activity of some intimacy. But I can say 2 miles can be glorious. No need to go 20 to get an endorphin rush. A fartlek of various speeds resulting in an 8:25 average pace followed by an 8:20 pace is good enough. All we were missing was an AED. Lol. She is also an ace pumpkin carver as you see in the picture.
Next run is scheduled for Monday. I think I'll skip that 3 miler since my good leg's soleus is a little strained of all things. Perhaps I should keep my pace 9 minutes plus for awhile or do some low heart rate running. Caution is recommended I think.
I am sure you are all familiar of this view of me as I accelerate away from you as we approach the finish line....

Why did you abbreviate Maryland on a pumpkin?
Crazy stuff going on in the midwest!
Dude! I'm SO with you on the 25k!! I LOVE that race for some reason!
I love the finisher's shirt.
I love the distance.
I love the loops.
I love the course.
I love the time of year.
I love being able to spot and cheer for all my running-buds!
I'll be looking for ya there = )
what can I say? I love crab cakes.
The sight that *I* most remember of Joe Carey is that of him finishing each of his legs at the Texas Independence Relay.
That was true spirit in my mind.
