Since I am now really a cyclist and not a runner, today qualifies as a cross training day for me. I decided not to double up with a ride after my speed PR on a long distance ride yesterday. I ran 4 miles at the Seabrook trails. It certainly feels like my running fitness is not there. But of course, one needs to run more than once a week for that. Dr Alice hammered my leg twice this week and it has been sore, but I did run anyways today. It's still sore of course.
The good news is that my Garmin connect works now, so I can look at all the stats. The first two miles was run with BARC member Shawn Bell at 8:58 pace with a 138 avg HR. I turned back and ran the next two miles on my own at 9:48 pace with a 139 avg HR. So it was a nice little workout. I am disappointed in my stamina, but I am sure I am still feeling some effects from yesterday's 3 hour plus effort at high heart rate for a lot of it.
I did miss the 30k today, no volunteering, running or cheering :(
But the ladies of BARC don't need my encouragement as the BARC open women rocked....initial reporst are that Andreia Spencer, Lisa Fletcher and Veronica Hoge all placed and I believe all had PRs. Given the less than ideal weather, they did fantastic and are well placed for the possibility of marathon PRs all around.
