Sometimes You Feel Like A Nut Part 2

Today I had "it" on my ride. Maybe it was the nice weather. Maybe it was the pent up energy from watching my friends run the Reindeer Run this morning. Maybe it was the curmudgeon in me after noticing that the fast people in my age group, who always show up at the races I run, did not show up this morning. My slowest 5k of the year would have been in the hardware.

So I rode 39 miles all by my lonesome at 19.5mph with a 144HR. Well almost by my lonesome, I rode a few miles side by side with Roger Wacker, an outstanding triathlete from our area. That's a PR for a training ride on my own without any drafting. And I wasn't really pushing it, it qualifies as a tempo ride, but normally my hard tempo rides or runs will have a 150 to 155 average HR.

It will be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow when I try to do the back to back 3 mile run followed by the club ride of 40 to 60 miles. And tomorrow I will set a milestone by passing 4000 road miles cycling this year.

I am itching for some fun, maybe try to talk my wife into heading into town for a little Rice Village Thai restaurant and pub night.
