Fish Lessons

Thursday's Masters swimming had me doing a 200 yard breastroke all out. I learned I am doing it all wrong for a swim meet. I did not come up for a breath every stroke, I did not touch with both hands at the end, and I started my kick early underwater after the turn slowing me down.

We also did butterly drills, dolphin kick drills, and backstroke drills. I swam (if you can call it that) a butterfly for 50 yds for the first time in my life. I actually had a semblence of a dolphin kick in the drill, never did dolphin kicks before.

This is going to take a while before I am ready for the individual medley in a swim meet. Hopefully I will get the hang of it all before I become sushi.

Dr Alice worked on me today and will do so twice more tomorrow. She has an aggressive plan laid out. I like aggressive plans.

Big decisions this weekend. Bike with cycling club tomorrow at 7:30 am or volunteer at the Reindeer Run and bike later? Weather is favoring the latter. Run 3 miles on Sunday morning with the running club at 6:30 am prior to biking with with the cycling club or not? Dr Alice's hammering of leg is favoring skipping the run. Decisions at dawn. Then finally need to decide whether or not to go to the cycling club holiday gathering on Sunday at 4 pm. Unlike the running club people, I don't know the cycling club people very well at all. Probably a good reason to go. One can't have too many clubs and club friends. I am a member of four running clubs, two cycling clubs, one athletic club and no swimming clubs.

Had "Glogg" for the first time yesterday. I've had "Gluhwein" in Germany and here many times. That is like drinking spiced wine with twigs. "Glogg" is like drinking spiced wine with dead white bugs in it. Yum.

OK, I am not being fair, they are both marvellous for a winter's night, bugs or twigs or whatever.

You don't need bugs, you need beer.
Avery Czar (Imperial Stout) - A very nice sipping beer that warms the heart.

That's why I like running better than swimming, you don't have to learn how to breath...on the other hand you get to join another club!
