Don't Exercise, Lose Weight

I weighed a record low 191 this morning. Go figure. I have done zero exercise for a week. I slept a lot, had no alcohol, no meat of course, and was very frugal with my food intake. I lose 4 pounds in a week. My wife says healing takes energy. Maybe. My muscle mass is deteriorating.....probably not so much yet. It is just the result of starvation.......not really, I'm just disciplined about food.

I haven't seen my running buddies in ages and it seriously bums me out. If I could drive, I would have went to the club run this morning at Cathy's house just to socialize. I'll get glimpses of them at the marathon, but it is such a zoo. Everyone goes their own way. I learned that two years ago when I got out of the medical area, looked for friends, but they had moved on. A metaphor for life, we are alone.

OK, I am going to say it. I do not like the Houston Marathon. I do not like the course. I do not like the weather. I do not like the size of the event. I do not like the George R Brown Convention Center. I do not like running (or perhaps I should just say in my case cramping) into downtown after 24 miles. In the unlikely event that I ever run (that is race as oppose to jog, walk or walk/run which I may do sometime for social reasons) another marathon again it won't be in Houston, it will be somewhere cold and especially dry (humidity free).

If you like the Houston Marathon, I am happy for you. Hope you have a great one on Sunday. I will be there cheering for you. I will even be working at the EXPO at the HARRA booth on Saturday from 2 pm until 3:30 pm (edit: change that to 3 pm to 4:30 pm and then out for some fine ale and dinner).
