I'll be at the starting line for the Houston Marathon. While my orthopedic surgeon suggests I might want to run less mileage in the future, I can go ahead and run with no fear. Seems my shock absorbers are not as robust as one would like, but there is nothing that needs special attention. This is exactly what I was hoping to hear.
The knee is still somewhat sore so I am in vigorous rest and ice therapy mode to get it 100% in the next few days. I was not planning a two and one half week taper prior to the marathon but so be it. I'd rather have a rested knee than get in some more runs. Hopefully a bit of Nordic tracking will have kept my aerobic fitness up reasonably well.
I have sent my RSVP to attend the Houston Running Bloggers pasta dinner next Friday night for some carb loading after packet pickup! After all, great carb food before and after a run is the only sensible reason for running long distances.
