The Half the Marathon In Half the States leaderboard has HRB President Jon Walk in the 14th spot with 10 half marathons completed in 10 different states. Jon is ranked 3rd among Texans behind Laura Garrett from Copperas Cove at 15 half marathons and Patrick Morein from The Woodlands at 11. Will Jon emulate his beloved Nittany Lions and burst into the top 10 nationally in 2006? It will require a minimum of 2 new states. I've been mulling over some runs for myself that would get John some new states. These include the Martian Half Marathon in the Detroit area on April 1, the Kentucky Derby Festival Half Marathon (which includes running on the track through Churchill Downs) on April 29, and the Boulder Backroads Half Marathon on September 24.
If this was Jon's blog, there would be all kinds of other data and fun facts about the top runners competing in the half marathon challenge. But it's not Jon's blog so this is all you get.

Kudos! I don't think I've laughed this hard at 12:15 in the morning in quite some time.
Actually, I was in the top 10! Laura Garrett has come on strong as well as a number of other folks. I'm hoping to get some Western states (WA, OR, ID) this summer when I'm working in Vancouver plus I'll have to do another back-to-back halves on the same weekend like I did last year in Iowa and Nebraska.
We'll see. I don't like to disappoint the masses!
it's good to see Laura representing Copperas Cove (my home town). I guess i need to get a cool job where i can travel and run everywhere i go!
