Leg Length Musings

When I went to the chiropractor, she said my right leg is about 1/8" shorter than my left, so it does more work. This would not surprise me as the soles of my right dress shoe seems to have worn more than my left. I can't tell with the running shoes. I am wondering if this results in a biomechanical issue that puts stress on the medial portion of my right knee. Perhaps I should try a 1/8" heel lift or go see a sports podiatrist. The joint is weighing on my mind as it still feels odd, although there is no pain.

For grins I wore a New Balance walking sole insert in my right shoe during my run this evening. I ran 3.5 miles on the track in 30:23, 152 avg HR, with mile splits of 9:00, 8:30 and 8:30. My fitness level is still well below my peak in early December, but it will be coming back as I slowly step up the training. I have no clue if the insert helped or hurt and I iced the knee as a precaution when I returned home. I guess I will just slowly crank up the training without any correction, schedule a podiatrist appointment and we will see what happens.

I am now an official member of the Houston Area Road Runners Association. However, since I did not join prior to the start of the HARRA fall series, I will not qualify for their IronFoot award in spite of completing all the necessary runs. I will just have to do it again.

i wonder if leg length is like foot size - nobody's two feet/legs are exactly the same size... if not, then you're a freak of nature. wear it proud.
