St Practice Day

Today is St Practice Day, which gives one the opportunity to host a pint or two prior to the big day tomorrow. I decided I did not need any pint practice so I had sushi instead.

My 10 week training club program for the Bolder Boulder 10k starts on Monday. I logged in and set my goal at 48:32 min, or 10 minutes faster than last year and 41 seconds faster than my Rodeo Run PR. My knee felt fine after Saturday's 10k and a 3 mile recovery run on Monday. However it became sore again after Tuesday's speedwork. I also stressed my hamstring a bit running the 200m so hard. I'll likely skip any running until I start the club program. I am pretty rigorous on not missing recommended workouts, so I need to ensure I am healthy enough to follow the plan.

Instead I got in a 15 minute lap swim tonight and some light yoga. More swimming is on the cross training regime ahead. If my leg is such that I can not take marathon mileage in the future, I'm considering switching to triathalon training as soon as June. This would allow me to have a major endurance challenge without so much running. But I really need to get better in the pool first.

Another business trip out of the country looms this Sunday, so I'll have to do my first program running in Belgium, unless I do Mondays' workout this weekend.
