Looks like the Houston Bloggers had a good time yesterday at their various Turkey Trots, I enjoyed reading the reports (Vic and June you guys crack me up, you should do a podcast like Iron Wil and Kahuna). I'll be trying to keep up with several of you this weekend by also running an 18 mile or so long run.
I learned a few things in the paper today about the race I ran yesterday. The women's winner was Samantha McGlone, who finished in 17:35. Samantha is a Canadian triathlete who won the Ford Ironman World Championship 70.3 race in Florida on November 11. She also won Wildflower earlier this year.
The men's Turkey Trot winner was also a Canadian, Geoff Williamson, who finished in 15:36. Geoff primarily competes in Mountain Running and expects to represent Canada at the 2006 World Mountain Running Trophy Race. Race timing was handled by Benji Durden, former Olympic marathoner. Alan Culpepper, who was 12th at the Athens Olympics, did not run the 5k, but was cheering his 4 year old in the kids sprints.
