Good New Bad News

I continue to monitor my health statistics and the potential benefits of an active fitness lifestyle. I received my blood work results from November 2007 today.

The good news is that my "good" cholesterol, HDL, hit an all time high of 60, the more the better in preventing heart disease. They say that HDL can be enhanced with aerobic exercise and my results agree with it. Where it used to be in the 30's and 40's, my last two results are 55 (9/06) and 60 (11/07).

Unfortunately, my bad cholesterol (LDLs) and total cholesterol crept back up to the borderline high area. They were lower and in the desirable range in September 2006. Bad cholesterol seems more related to diet than aerobic fitness. Too much meat and cheese in my diet I guess.....those wicked Boondoggles pizzas. I may need to inch toward my wife's nutrition, she is now essentially vegan.

Not that she needs it, her HDLs are very high and her LDLs are very low. Heart disease is not going to claim her.

All I got to say is FITNESS ROCKS......and not just because the physician assistant told me that I don't look 52....or maybe she meant I look much older than that.
