Injury four weeks in advance. Nope.
Bad cold one week in advance. Check.
Can't sleep the night before. Check.
Cramp so bad you want to die. Nope.
Cross the finish line, get a medal. Check.
Not be content with your time. Check.
Sore quads and calves on Monday. Check.
Have the marathon blues on Monday. Check.
There are too many checks up there for running a 5k. The Houston Marathon messes with my mind. I don't even run it and I have half the symptoms. Too weird.
I must admit running the 5k is a bit easier way to get a t-shirt and a medal, albeit of much lesser quality.
Edit: Looks like they have finalized the 5k chip times and determined I ran 23:43 (chip time), not 23:52 (which was gun time). Wooo Hooo. My watch did say 23:45 so that makes more sense. Now we really know why one uses a chip.

Congrats from another Barb who really and truly is glad to have met you in times past!
Hey, I didn't know they gave out medals at the 5k too. How cool!
I'd take that finishing time any day of the week!
