On the road again

I finally tallied my first *real* run of 2006. I started 2006 with the 3 mile run that I started with back in March. I even did the same 30 minute pace. Of course in March, this was flat out everything I had. Now it is intended to be a pace I can duplicate for 26.2. My heart rate was several beats higher than it should have been, indicating to me that I have not fully recovered from fighting my cold virus. However I feeling better every minute now, so by Sunday I should be firing on all cylinders.

Of course the anxiety is starting to weigh in and I am becoming hypersensitive to my body's condition. My knee is a wee bit tender after the run today. I don't think I will have problems with it on Sunday during the run, unless I twist it, but on Monday I suspect both my back and my knee will be hurting puppies. Once an hour I tell myself I should have switched to the half marathon.

But then again, when I finish the marathon I will have completed the HARRA fall series. I even joined HARRA today so I can get the Ironfoot award afterwards. Thanks to Jon Walk for posting about the 117 of us who are still in the running to complete the full fall series.

To cap off my eventful day, I went to yoga class for the first time in two weeks. Today's class worked a lot on core strength, which is something I lack. Yoga poses that we worked on included moving from plank pose to chaturanga pose . Of course no yoga class would be complete without several downward-facing dog poses, which is intended to be a resting pose. This is one pose that is of clear benefit to a runner since it stretches the hamstrings, strengthens the arms and legs, and relieves lower back tension. The yoga session also took my mind away from being anxious about Sunday.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face
yadda yadda yadda (that's really the only part of the blessing that applies to running...)

you're my hero daddy, run hard!

Hi just checking out blogs and thought I would stop and read yours since we have some of the same interests and ideas. Some of the ideas are a little much and some are right on the money. I am glad I stopped by just to say hi I hope you don't mind. Some people consider it spam but if you don't want people to post why do they leave it open for the world to see. I have some great Yoga information and articles available for free around 2000 savings ideas so stop on in if you want... I also have some of the most informative sites on yoga and baby gifts and baby showers. Hope you enjoy Thank you for your time.kripalu affilitated yoga studios
